What is S.T.A.R?
Let us acknowledge upfront that we are all STARS at Silkwood. We all work hard, do our best every day and care about our work. Now and again though, we need to shine a bit of magic on one of our STARS because they deserve being acknowledged for demonstrating our values through their actions at work by:

When this happens, we want to hear and share these stories, and most importantly acknowledge this team member for what they bring to Silkwood. The STAR Program has been set up to support the process of shining light on our STARS and acknowledging them with a gift of a ‘special moment in their life’ so they will never forget they have made a difference and matter.
It is a simple program by when someone shines a light on another person, we acknowledge that person by giving them a STAR, which can then be redeemed for a Moment that Matters experience.
How Does a STAR Get me a Moment That Matters Gift?
STARS are accumulated. They can then be redeemed by selecting your own unique Moment that Matters from our STAR Program on the SWISH website.
We recognise that each of us see moments that matter differently, so we offer a wide range of different experiences (which will add more to over time) which are uniquely local, designed to create a lasting memory and embody the Silkwood Learning Adventure.
To redeem your experience, you select which one best suits you with the STARS you have, then email the Team and Culture Team who will arrange a link for you to book a time that suits you.
How Do I Shine a Light on a STAR?
Everyday
We encourage anyone, anytime to shine a light on a team member who has ‘starred’ for them by completing the form below on who you would like to shine a STAR on and why. We will then acknowledge this by directly advising the individual via email with their shout out and a gift of a STAR.
Every Week
We will choose one STAR to publicly acknowledge to the whole team via a shout out and a gift of a STAR.
Every Term
At the end of every term, the SWISH Wellness Champions will look at all the ‘shines’ throughout the term and select two shines that they believe best embodies expressing Silkwood’s Values and gift them with 20 STARS! This will automatically make them eligible for a Moment that Matters experience of enable them to continue to grow their STARS for an experience that requires more points.
Guidelines for STARS
Each nomination earns you one STAR and you go into the end of term draw for the chance to win 20!
You can only nominate the same team member three times per year (max).
Once you have reached 25 STARS, you have the current calendar year to redeem your Moment That Matters before your STARS roll back to zero.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
The Wildlife Sanctuary is the place to experience amazing Australian wildlife encounters and provides opportunity to view Aboriginal performances and the Wildlife Hospital precinct.
Paint & Sip Class – Surfers Paradise 1.5 hours
Let go as you swish your paintbrush around and create a spectacularly unique artwork! Take a seat and be taken step by step through the featured artwork of the night, with a drink or two in hand to keep the creativity flowing. You’ll have a wonderful masterpiece to take home by the end.
Paradise Country General Admission
Discover what a day on the farm can bring with a visit to the Gold Coast’s Paradise Country. Encounter a range of gorgeous farm animals like lambs, piglets and calves, as well as some of Australia’s iconic wildlife, and be kept entertained with a range of animal shows throughout the day.
Kids Skateboard Deck Painting Class – 2 hours (Stapylton)
Fuel your childs creative side with this fun and expressive painting class that turns a blank skateboard into something amazing! Over two hours, they can let their imagination run wild as they transform a wooden deck using stencils, tape, paint, markers and more.
Surfers Paradise Ice Skating Rink (90mins)
Lace up and have some frosty fun at this ice skating rink smack bang in the middle of the perpetually warm and sunny Surfers Paradise! You’ll have 90 minutes to skate around the rink illuminated by under-ice lighting, or if you are a beginner you can hop on an adorable fiberglass penguin.
Stand Up Paddle Board Lesson – Budds Beach 60mins
Discover the wonders of Surfers Paradise from a different perspective during a 60min stand up paddle board lesson. An experienced instructor will take you through the basics in the shallows of Budds Beach before testing your new skills on the river.
Aquaduck City Tour and River Cruise (60mins)
